AGENDA February 27th to March 8th: nautical activities for the Day of the Balearic Islands

To help you make the most of what the Mediterranean has to offer this week, here’s a roundup of the most notable events taking place.

This long weekend for the Day of the Balearic Islands, the archipelago is filled with activities such as the Fishing and Local Fish Fair, along with workshops, talks and llaüt exhibitions at Ses Voltes and Parc de la Mar. Regattas, fishing, kayaking and much more take center stage in this week’s Passion for the Sea agenda.

MALLORCA

• CAPE 31 SERIES // (from February 27th to March 1st) – Organized by: Club Nàutic s’Arenal (+ info)

Description: Los famosos monocascos de 31 pies (9’4 metros), tripulados por equipos de siete u ocho regatistas, competirán en la segunda prueba de la regata.

• FISHING AND LOCAL FISH FAIR // (from February 27th to March 2nd) – Organized by: OP Mallorcamar (+ info)

Description: The area around the Consolat and Palma’s Drassanes square will become a showcase for the Balearic fishing sector, with information stands on traditional fishing methods, sustainable practices and local product quality labels, as well as tastings prepared by industry organizations.

• PRO RIGGING TROPHY // (from February 28th to March 1st) – Organized by: Real Club Náutico de Palma (+ info)

Description: More than 100 sailors from the 420, 29er, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, OK Dinghy and Snipe classes gather in the Bay of Palma to compete in the second part of this iconic regatta.

• CLASSIC RALLY // (from March 5th to the 7th) – Organized by: Puerto Portals (+ info)

Description: Puerto Portals hosts a top-level international classic car event, featuring a route of more than 500 km and Scratch Pre-81, Pre-90 and Pre-98 categories for vehicles built up to 1999, in both high-average and low-average formats.

• 8TH CANOEING PALMA DONA TROPHY // (March 7th) – Organized by: Canoeing Balearic Federation (+ info)

Description: Parc de la Mar will become the venue for this traditional sports day aimed at all audiences.

• SOCIAL FISHING MEET UP // (March 7th) – Organized by: Club Nàutic Cala Gamba (+ info)

Description: Members of the club gather at Cala Gamba to take part in a new fishing competition.

• ROUTE: WHERE LAND FINDS THE SEA // (March 7th) – Organized by: Maritime Museum (+info)

Description: The Museum invites the public to take a walk around the Port of Sóller and discover how the landscape and the sea have shaped the harbor.

• FEMALE REGATTA // (from March 7th to the 8th) – Organized by: Reial Club Nàutic del Port de Pollença (+ info)

Description: On the occasion of Women’s Day, the club organizes a regatta for the Optimist, Optimist D, Flying Fifteen, ILCA 4 and 6, Wingfoil classes and ORC cruising boats.

• NOLI TROPHY // (from March 7th to the 8th) – Organized by: Real Club Náutico de Palma (+ info)

Description: ORC cruising boats will compete in this regatta in honor of the naval constructor Pedro Cardona.

MENORCA

• BALEARIC ISLANDS WINTER CHAMPIONSHIP // (from February 28th to March 1st) – Organized by: Club Marítimo de Mahón (+ info)

Description: More than 400 paddlers of different clubs of the Balearic Islands will sail in Menorcan waters.

• SA LLIGA HIVERN // (March 1st) – Organized by: Club Marítimo de Mahón (+ info)

Description: The club celebrates the third session of this competition for cruising boats

Description: Starting gunshot to the fourth session of the traditional Winter Series, the regatta for the Snipe class.

IBIZA

• BALEARIC ISLANDS OPTIMIST TEAMS CHAMPIONSHIP // (February 27th) – Organized by: Club Náutico Ibiza (+ info)

Description: Clubs from across the islands will compete representing their respective organizations in a competition where collective strategy is key to the final result.

• BALEARIC ISLANDS OPTIMIST INDIVIDUAL CHAMPIONSHIP // (from February 28th to March 2nd) – Organized by: Club Náutico Ibiza (+ info)

Description: The Playa d’en Bossa will host three regattas that will crown the new local champions of the Optimist class.

• ‘NAVEGAR ES NECESARIO’ // (March 7th) – Organized by: Es Nàutic (+ info)

Description: The head of Maritime Rescue, Miguel Félix Chicón, presents his new book ‘Navegar es necesario’ at the facilities of the club.
