A change in the wind makes Saura and Llopis win the first Snipe’s Autumn Cup round

Snipe’s Artiem Circuit kicks off with a great level and conditions that are very variable and similar to the ones that are expected for Snipe’s World Champs, which will take place in Mahón the next month of September.

Peter Saura and Borja Llopis won last weekend the first of the regattas of Snipe’s Artiem Circuit that will take place next months at Club Marítimo de Mahón, the Autumn Cup. A very tight date, with six races and a left out one, and that was practically chosen during the last wind streaks.

The Autumn Cup had 12 crews that offered a great level with very variable wind conditions between Saturday and Sunday, similar to the ones expected next year at the Snipe’s World Cup, in Mahón.

Marta Torner and Enrique Mir, who began the first test in the worst way possible, had a comeback and took the lead with 3 victories. When all seemed that it led to triumph, in the last moment Peter Saura and Borja Llopis took advantage of a change in wind to take the triumph, that, added to the seventh place of Torner and Mir, was enough to take the title.

In the end, Saura and Llopis finished with 8 points (1,3,1,2,1) followed by Torner and Mir with 12 points (1,1,2,1,7) and Alex Tinoco, who knows what it’s like to be Snipe’s World Champion and Harrison Moore, who finished in third place with 18 points (4,2,4,3,5).

From the Committee, technician Damián Borrás valued the competition due to the level of the participants as well as the for the variety of the conditions that found the organization very positively. The World Champs will take place next month in September in Mahón.
