6M Class makes a big comeback to CNA with the first 'Arenal Cup 2025'

26th May 2025 by Nautimedia

For the third consecutive year, the 6M class fleet has chosen Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA) as its training base ahead of upcoming competitions. As in previous years, the presence of these boats at the club has been used to host several 6 Metre class regattas.

The event took place from Friday, May 23rd, to Sunday, May 25th, with two windward-leeward races scheduled per day, totaling six races over the weekend. Weather conditions were favorable throughout the event, with consistent “embats blowing at 10 to 14 knots each day.

One notable incident occurred when the yacht “Maybe” was forced to withdraw from competition due to a mast issue during the second race on the first day, preventing it from sailing for the remainder of the weekend.

This regatta is the first of three events under the Arenal Cup name to be held in the coming weeks at CNA. Each day features two one-hour races. Arenal Cup 2 will take place from June 12th to 14th, and Arenal Cup 3 from July 11th to 13th. Together with PalmaVela, the Arenal Cup races are part of the Mallorca Series for the 6M class, four regattas that will culminate in a combined podium.

“These are very attractive events for the club, as they help draw the attention of high-level racing classes and extend our activity beyond the peak season,” noted Álex Durán, CNA’s events coordinator. “Thanks to the work we've done in recent years with the 6M class, representatives of the Cape 31 class have taken interest in our club and will be competing here in September,” he added.

This marks the third consecutive year that top sailors from the prestigious 6M class have chosen CNA for their training. Around ten boats, each with five crew members, from seven different countries have made the club their training base over the past months.

“It’s a great honor for CNA that such skilled sailors from this exclusive class choose our club for months of training. It’s also a significant opportunity for Mallorca, attracting high-quality tourism that benefits Arenal, Llucmajor, and the island as a whole,” said Ferran Muniesa, CNA's manager.

“The club is perfect for us, with unmatched access to the Bay of Palma, just 10 minutes from a well-connected international airport, excellent facilities and infrastructure, and above all, incredibly friendly and welcoming service,” praised Markus Wieser, crew member of one of the boats.
