This Sunday, June 22nd, the new Magaluf’s maritime promenade, which has supposed the integral remodeling and modernization of 650 metres in front of the coast in some of the most known touristic areas of the locality, will be inaugurated. The works, which have been executed during the low season, are framed within the process of transformation of mature touristic destinations towards more sustainable, more modern and more competitive models.

YOU HAVE ALL OF OUR FULL PROGRAMS HERE!The performance has counted with a subvention of 4 million euros of the Next Generation UE funds of the Recuperation, Transformation and Resilience Plan in collaboration with the Industry and Tourism Ministry; and the Tourism Board of the Balearic Islands Government through Illes Balears Sostenibles, which, thanks to the ITS funds (Sustainable Tourism Tax) has given 1 million euros more.
The promenade was built in 1990 and, with this intervention, the infrastructures are not only renewed, but also given a more modern design in touch with a landscape integration which combines different species of native species. After this first phase, there will be a second phase that will take place next winter, 2025/26, to complete the integral work of the first line of Magaluf’s beach.
To celebrate this important improvement, Calvià’s Council has organized an extense program of activities that, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and under the slogan ‘Magaluf para todos - Magaluf for all’, will include cultural, sporting and gastronomical activities for the whole family.
The protocolary act of inauguration will kick off at 11 a.m. with an institutional tape cut in the confluence of the maritime promenade with the ‘Contralmirante Ferragut’ street. Authorities, hoteliers, complementary offers associations and neighbours, aside from members of the Escarrer family, will attend.
The inauguration takes place a year after change of name of the path through which it began being called “Paseo Marítimo de Gabriel Escarrer Juliá”, in recognition to the founder of the Meliá Hotels International group and his contribution to touristic development of Magaluf’s area. The initial act of inauguration will be live streamed through the Council’s social media.
After the tape’s cut, the authorities will attend the communication media and carry out an institutional walk until the Jacques Sasson square, place where all the assistant will be able to enjoy a ‘ball de bot’ and ‘xeremiers’.
Around 11:45 a.m., a special tribute will be paid to Mrs. Catalina Feliu, owner of the first house in Magaluf. She will be presented with the “Cor de Calvià,” a creation by local artist Carlos Terroba that has become a symbol of the municipality, with the original artwork located on the Palmanova seafront promenade.
In connection with this recognition, the documentary Catalina i Magaluf will be screened. Directed by María Pujalte Aleñar, the film takes a fascinating journey through time to explore the profound transformation of Magaluf. The short film is essentially a reflection on the identity of a place through the life of one of its most rooted residents. The protagonist, now 90 years old, has been a privileged witness to the great changes the town has undergone.
The official event will conclude with the screening of a video at 12:00 p.m. about the 2025 Annual Convention of the British travel association ABTA. The convention will bring together around 450 delegates from British travel agencies and tourism professionals this coming October in Calvià. ABTA is the UK’s leading association of travel agents and tour operators, comprising over 4,300 companies.
At Jacques Sasson Square, in front of the beach and along the promenade, there will be various sports and cultural activities throughout the day until 6:00 p.m., open to all attendees.
The opening celebration will feature a variety of musical activities including a DJ, a jazz concert, live music, and performances by the finalists of the Gala Talent Jove de Calvià.
There will also be a photography exhibition titled “100 Years of Magaluf” and a photocall to capture the moment. Circo Stromboli and the Charanga Patrulla Cansina will entertain throughout the day.
For children, there will be activities such as the Biblio-roulotte from the Biblioteques de Calvià (IMEB), various games, and face-painting workshops.
The organization of the ATP Mallorca Championships will install a mini tennis court featuring the participation of a player from the tournament currently being held in Santa Ponça.
Organized by the Institut Calvianer d’Esports (ICE) and aimed at sports enthusiasts, Magaluf’s beach will host a variety of sports activities throughout the day. These include exhibition matches by El Toro Rugby Club with several guest clubs, children's games, free-play footvolley, and a mixed 4x4 beach volleyball tournament.
The inauguration of the "Gabriel Escarrer Juliá" seafront promenade will serve as the perfect setting for the first edition of the GastroFira de Magaluf, a gastronomic event designed to delight locals and visitors with a wide range of unique offerings created especially for this special day.
Restaurants, beach clubs, and hotels in the area have joined forces to offer enticing options where cuisine will blend with live music, culinary workshops, and cooking demonstrations. There will be special promotions and tastings for attendees to enjoy the event through a combination of great food, entertainment, and fun.
Most local establishments will present creative experiences such as paella showcooking, cocktail-making classes, or African bongo concerts. Some venues will also include live music groups and DJs to enliven the GastroFira.
Brezza Beach Club will offer Zumba sessions, a cocktail-making class, and a participatory cooking workshop. Nikki Beach will offer live music and their Amazing Sunday, which includes a mojito and chef tasting for €20. Bondi will offer a 10% discount for Mallorca residents and a welcome drink. Oceans will offer a paella showcooking with a special offer of paella dish and drink for €15. Kalima Beach: African bongo concert in the garden and cocktail service.
Titanic Magaluf will offer a special GastroFira menu with mixed paella, Santiago tart, and a glass of sangria for €25. El Balcón will offer a special menu for the event’s inauguration. Ancla Verde will offer a special GastroFira menu featuring boletus cream and cod in Vizcaina sauce, with bread and olives for €26. Black Beards will offer their F¡famous Captain Morgan ribs for foodies. Innside Calvià Beach - Shallow Sunclub will offer a complimentary glass of cava.
To improve convenience and facilitate attendance, the Council has organized a free shuttle bus service from nearby second-line areas where parking is easier.
The buses will run from the Magaluf Athletics Track, with a stop in front of the ALDI supermarket. The bus service is free and does not require prior registration.
