Es Nàutic rounded off this feat by claiming four gold medals and two silvers, with all ten members of the CNSA’s children’s team giving their all throughout the two days of competition. The female athletes stood out especially. The gold medals went to Lara Ribas (SS1 Girls Infantil A), Júlia Roselló (SS1 Girls Infantil B), Lara Ribas-Gabriela Mendes (SS2 Girls Infantil A), and Liam López-Odalis Posado (SS2 Mixed Infantil A). The silver medals were earned by Gabriela Mendes (SS1 Girls Infantil A) and Júlia Roselló-Laura Rubio (SS2 Girls Infantil A). Also contributing to the team with solid performances in SS1 and SS2, and scoring crucial points to secure the title, were Infantil B paddlers Saúl Calderón, Henk Brinkman, Marc Tur, and Marc Manzanares.
The victory is doubly significant, as CNSA paddlers are not specialized in this distance. Their training is primarily focused on sprint canoeing, with shorter course formats. In this championship, competitors raced over 3,000 meters, both in single and double kayaks. The singles took to the water on Saturday, while the SS2 events were held on Sunday.
“All ten paddlers gave their maximum effort throughout the weekend, even though this isn’t the type of competition they usually train for. The girls were particularly outstanding in both SS1 and SS2, with overwhelming dominance in some races. Precisely because of that, and because everyone scored points over the two days, the club was able to secure victory with a very wide margin. We knew we had a strong team, but the weekend couldn’t have gone any better, despite the constant heat. We’re very proud of our paddlers,” said Eduardo Prendes, CNSA’s canoeing coach.
